When you get your first alert, you'll see a quick summary of what's going on, so you can decide your next move pretty fast.
Most alerts just give a brief rundown — like the likelihood, severity, and when to expect the weather or situation.
This way, we can send you a simple 160-character message to your device, saving your message limit.
Usually, that's enough for you to figure out what action, if any, to take.!
But if you want more info, you can reply with a ‘D’ for a detailed description of the alert, including specifics like the affected area, from the alerting authority.
You can also reply with ‘I’ to get the alert instructions and recommended actions.
Remember, each message you send us, like asking for the full description with ‘D,’ and each message we send you, counts against your device's message limit.
Sometimes, the detailed info can take a few messages to come through. So, if your plan has a limit, requesting extra info might mean additional charges.
But in urgent cases — like tornadoes or wildfires — the extra info could be really important and worth the cost.
Give it a try and let us know what you think.
If you have any questions or need a hand, just let us know — we’re happy to help.
