# Introduction

*Quiet Time* is a tool is designed to ensure you stay informed when it matters most, by letting you choose when to mute non-urgent alerts on your devices. You can read more about *Quiet Time* on our [Quiet Time News Post](https://adionaalert.com/posts/quiet-time).

# Getting Started

To begin using *Quiet Time*:

1. Head over to your Account Dashboard by logging in [here](https://adionaalert.com/account).
2. Click on the "Quiet Time" navigation option or click [here](https://adionaalert.com/account/quiet-time) to navigate to it directly.
3. Enter your desired start and end times.
	 > The selected times apply to the timezone of each device and static location. This means that if your device moves from one timezone to another, your selected start and end times will shift as well.
4. Select "Quiet Time Enabled" to enable *Quiet Time* for your account.
5. Click "Submit" to update your *Quiet Time* information.

# Controlling *Quiet Time* From Your Device

If your account's *Quiet Time* is enabled, you can also control your account's *Quiet Time* from your device by sending messages to our service. Simply reply to a recent alert you received from Adiona Alert. This can be done using the following commands:

- `q on`: If not already on, this will immediately turn **on** *Quiet Time* for your account.
- `q off`: If not already off, this will Immediately turn **off** *Quiet Time* for your account.

# Frequently Asked Questions

#### Can I control *Quiet Time* using the messaging commands without enabling *Quiet Time* in my account?

Users are unable to use the *Quiet Time* messaging commands unless the "Quiet Time Enabled" checkbox is checked on the [Quiet Time Configuration Page](https://adionaalert.com/account/quiet-time) in their account. This is done in order to ensure that our users do not accidentally turn on *Quiet Time* indefinitely. 

#### What if I have more than one device and/or static location in multiple timezones?

If you have a device that is in a different timezone than another device or static location, the *Quiet Time* hours will be applied to the timezone of each device and static location. This means that you may receive alerts for a secondary device or static location during your *Quiet Time* if you are in a different timezone.

#### Which alerts will I receive when most alerts have been paused?

To ensure you still received any urgent alerts, when the issuing agency identifies the severity of the alert to either be "Extreme" or "Severe", or identifies the type of action recommended to be "Shelter", Evacuate" or "Prepare", the alert will be send to you even during your *Quiet Time*.

You will receive alerts such as a Flash Flood, Tornado or Wildfire Warning even during *Quiet Time* so that you can avoid immediate threats to your safety.

#### Will I continue to receive alerts issued during my *Quiet Time*?

After a good night rest, at the end of your *Quiet Time*, any alert issued that remains in effect (has not been cancelled or expired) will be send to your device so you can stay informed and prepared for the day ahead of you.

Quiet Time

Adiona Alert allows users to request additional information for the most recent alert as well as any previously received active alerts. This guide outlines the two types of alert information requests you can make.

# Requesting Information on the Latest Alert

For every alert sent to you, you can request both the alert description and instructions, which are provided by the alerting agency that issued the alert. To retrieve this information, simply send a message to Adiona Alert through your satellite communicator with either `d` to request the alert description or `i` to request the alert instructions.

# Requesting Information on a Specific Alert

Similarly, you can request information for any specific alert you’ve received by using the same message format but with one key addition: the unique alert identifier.

Each alert includes a unique identifier, located in square brackets (`[]`). To request information for a specific alert, append this identifier to your message after the `d` or `i`. For example, if you had an alert with the unique identifier of `1234`, to request a description, you would send `d 1234`, and for instructions, send `i 1234`.

1. Log into your [Adiona Alert account](https://adionaalert.com/login).

2.	From the Dashboard, open the Devices page.

3.	On the Devices page, you will see all devices currently associated with your account. Select the "New Device" button to add a device to your account.

4.	The New Device dialogue will allow you to enter the details of your device.

5.	Enter a device name, device nickname, and device description. These fields will allow you to identify each device correctly when managing your account.

	> If you include a device nickname, the nickname will be used in the text of any alert we send you. This is useful when you have more than one device or fixed location.

6.	Enter the IMEI number for your Bivy Stick device in the IMEI field. You can find the IMEI number printed on the box that your device came in.

7.	Press the "Add New Device" button.

8. Wait approximately 10 minutes to see if you receive an activation message that gets sent to your Bivy Stick. If received, Adiona Alert will alert you of any alerts while you use the "Track" feature on your Bivy Stick.

    > Note: Unlike Garmin and ZOLEO devices, Bivy Stick devices **do not require** a follow-up activation step.

If you are looking to delete your account, device, and location data from Adiona Alert:

3. Click the "Delete" button if you are confident that you wish to perform this action.

We currently require our users to have either a Garmin inReach or Zoleo device, but we have designed our service to be available with a variety of devices.

We intend to add support for Spot X and other devices in the future, but we are a small (and mighty) team, so we focus our efforts based on our users' needs and requests.

Support for Other Devices

Our service requires that your ZOLEO subscription include the LocationShare+ service, which provides regular location updates that you can share with others and that we use to monitor your location.

One of the benefits of the ZOLEO service is that location updates and messages are sent and received over your smartphone’s cellular or other data network connection when your ZOLEO is paired with your smartphone, and a data connection is available to your smartphone. 

Messages sent or received, including the location-based alerts we will send you, will only be counted toward your monthly allotment or billed when they are sent or received over the Iridium satellite network because your ZOLEO is not paired with your smartphone or when it is paired with your smartphone, but your smartphone is not connected to the internet.


What are the ZOLEO service requirements to use your service?

Requirements for ZOLEO Users

Our service requires that you have location tracking enabled so we can monitor your location as your device updates it.

Our service works best with inReach subscriptions other than the Enabled or Essential Plan. A Enabled or Essential Subscription only allows location tracking at a fee of $0.10 per update (it is free in the other plans). 

A safety plan also limits the number of free messages you can send or receive to 10 (additional messages will cost you extra) and receiving one of our alerts will count as one message.

We recommend at least a Standard or Premium subscription to get the most out of your inReach and the location-based alerts we send to your device.

### ❗Garmin LiveTrack Warning❗
 
Do not use or turn on Garmin's 'LiveTrack' service. You can't use LiveTrack and MapShare at the same time. Turning on 'LiveTrack' will disable 'MapShare' and as a result, we will no longer get the location updates that we need.

What are the Garmin inReach service requirements to use your service?

Requirements for Garmin inReach Users

1.	From the Device page in your account, click the "Activate" button. 

	> If the Activate button is not there, your device is already activated.

2.	Our activation page will now open for your device, displaying a one-time code and phone number. Carefully note the one-time code and phone number displayed.

3.	Create a new message on your inReach device or use one of the Garmin apps connected to your inReach, such as the Explore app.

4.	Enter the phone number displayed on the Activation page in the "To" field on your device. You do not have to use an existing contact and can enter the 10-digit phone number.

5.	Enter the 9-digit one-time code also displayed on the Activation page. **This code is unique to your activation and only valid for 24 hours.** Only enter the 9-digit one-time code in your message – do not enter other information. The inReach system will likely also enter your Garmin account name and your current location. Our service expects this information and will remove this information before verifying your one-time code.

6.	Double-check the phone number and one-time code you entered in your message to ensure your activation is successful. Once you have provided the correct numbers, send your message. Your inReach device will need a clear view of the sky to send the message. It may also take several minutes for your message to be delivered to the Iridium satellite network.

7.	Once our service has received and verified your activation message, we will send your inReach device a message confirming it was successfully activated. The message may take several minutes to be delivered to your inReach device, so please be patient. Since the message will be delivered using the Iridium satellite network, your device needs a clear view of the sky. Sometimes, it may take longer, so don’t be alarmed if your confirmation message isn’t received after a few minutes. Wait an hour or so before resending the message or contacting our team.

8.	You can now visit the Device page on your account to confirm your inReach device has been activated. The Activate button you used earlier to activate your inReach device will no longer be displayed after a successful activation. This is a perfect time to ensure your inReach device is Enabled. It was enabled by default when you added it to your account. 

Congratulations! You will now receive safety alerts, including severe weather alerts, delivered directly to your Zoleo device based on your current location, *wherever your adventures take you.*

How to activate your inReach device after adding it to your account.

Activating a New Garmin inReach Device

1. Log into your [Adiona Alert account ](https://adionaalert.com/login).

2.	From the Dashboard, open the Devices page.

3.	Once the Devices page is open, you will see all devices currently associated with your account. Select the "New Device" button to add a device to your account.

4.	The New Device dialogue will allow you to enter the required details into your account.

5.	Enter a device name, device nickname, and device description. These fields will allow you to identify each device correctly when managing your account.

6.	Select Garmin Recreational as your account service provider. Once you have selected your service provider, you will see the additional information required for our service to work with your device.

7.	Enter the IMEI number for your Garmin device in the IMEI field.

8.	Select the model of your inReach device from the dropdown list.

9.	Please enter the details that will provide us access to your inReach KML feed by entering the full KML feed URL from your Garmin inReach Explore account and the password you created for your MapShare KML feed.

10.	Check the box “Use the Garmin Messenger app” if you have created and are using a Garmin Messenger app account.

11.	Now press the "Add New Device" button, and you will return to our Device page.

1.	Log in to your Garmin inReach Explore account here.

2.	Once you are logged into your Explore account, click the “Social” tab.

3.	Ensure the MapShare option is turned on.

4.	Open the MapShare settings by clicking on the "MapShare Settings" button.

5.	While Garmin does not require it, we strongly suggest you set a password to prevent unauthorized access to your location and device information.

6.	The name and description for your location feed are optional. 

7.	The three other options for your Garmin MapShare location feed are optional for our service, but feel free to select what suits your uses best.

8.	Save your settings by clicking the "Save Changes" button. This will close this window and bring you back to the Social tab of your account.

9.	Open the MapShare KML feed details using the feeds link on the Social page.

> The Feeds link may not be visible is you are accessing the MapShare page using a mobile or small screen browswer. If that option is not visible to you, make sure you are using a browser that can display the full Garmin web page.

10.	Copy the full address of the KML Feed. It should be in the form of `share.garmin.com/Feed/Share/myfeedname`.

11.	Don’t forget the KML feed password you set.

12. Go to the Plans & Devices tab.

13.	Copy the IMEI number of the inReach device you wish to associate with your Adiona Alert account.

You now have all the information our service requires to monitor your location as your Garmin inReach updates it continuously:

- The KML feed URL that is updated by your Garmin inReach.
- The KML feed password (if specified).
- The IMEI number of the Garmin inReach device you wish to activate on your account.

Garmin inReach Explore Account Settings

Activating your device will authorize ZOLEO to share your location and check-in information with Adiona Alert. It will also allow Adiona Alert to send alerts directly to your ZOLEO device.

1.	From the Device page in your account, click the "Activate" button. 

	 > If the Activate button is not visible, your device is already activated.

2.	An activation popup should be displayed, which will allow you to launch the ZOLEO configurator. Press the “Open ZOLEO Configurator” button and begin authorizing ZOLEO to share information with Adiona Alert.

3.	Review the ZOLEO configurator information and begin the process by selecting “Get Started.” This will open the first step of the Data Sharing configuration, which generally starts in a new browser tab.

4.	The first step of the ZOLEO configurator will ask for the IMEI number for the ZOLEO device you just added to your Adiona Alert account. 
	> Reminder - You can find the IMEI number printed on the rear of your device or in your ZOLEO online account.

5. After you’ve entered your IMEI number, press “Save and Next.”

6.	In the next step of the ZOLEO configurator, you will select the data you authorize ZOLEO to share with Adiona Alert. Select "Location Share +" and "Check-in" to allow us to monitor your location.

7.	Finally, please read and agree to the statement allowing ZOLEO to share your data with us by checking the box. You can then press the “Confirm and Send Email” button. 

8.	After you’ve confirmed with ZOLEO, they will send a message to the email address registered with your ZOLEO account requesting you to confirm your agreement. If you don’t find the email, check your Spam folder.

9.	After authorizing data sharing, return to the Adiona Alert portal, which should have remained open in your browser. You can now go to the next step of activation by pressing "Next".

10.	This page will guide you through the second step of activating your device: verifying your phone number.

11.	On this page, you will find a one-time code and phone number. Carefully note the one-time code and phone number displayed. 

12. Send a message from your ZOLEO device to our service using the provided phone number and **ONLY** include the one-time code as your message. 

	> Note: A phone number is not displayed in the image above as it will change for different groups of users. 

13.	Create a new message using the ZOLEO app connected to your ZOLEO device.

14.	Now, enter the phone number displayed on the Activation page in the "To" field on your device. You do not have to use an existing contact and can enter the 10-digit phone number.

15.	Enter the 9-digit one-time code also displayed on the Activation page. This code is unique to your activation and only valid for 24 hours. Only enter the 9-digit one-time code in your message – **do not enter other information**.

16.	Double-check the phone number and one-time code you entered in your message to ensure your activation is successful. Once you have confirmed the correct numbers are in your message, send your message. Your message may take several minutes to be delivered over the Iridium satellite network.

	> The message you send from the ZOLEO app should be communicated over your current internet connection. If you are activating your ZOLEO device from an area without an internet connection, your ZOLEO device will be using the Iridium satellite network, which requires your device to have a clear view of the sky.

17.	Once our service has received and verified your activation message, we will send your ZOLEO device a message confirming it was successfully activated. The message may take several minutes to be delivered to your ZOLEO device, so please be patient. In cases when the message will be delivered using the Iridium satellite network, your device needs a clear view of the sky. Sometimes, it may take longer, so don’t be alarmed if your confirmation message isn’t received after a few minutes. Wait an hour or so before resending the message or contacting our team.

2.	After logging in, you will be met with the Dashboard. From there, you can add one or multiple devices to your account using the "Devices" tab.
